During the winter months, it is no surprise that the nation’s roads can come under some strain. Not only is winter driving more challenging for the country’s motorist, road conditions worsen at this time of year. With rain, ice, and cold temperatures, road surfaces are prone to crack; road markings fade. Therefore, at this time of year, Wilson & Scott undertake a wide range of Maintenance and Repair jobs.
One of these such works I recently visited was a contract from National Highways, on the A36. Our crews, supervised by Russell Small, carried out a variety of tasks to ensure that the trunk road continued to safely serve the local residents. Some of the work that was going on included handwork, joint sealing, and machining the edge and centre lines of the carriageway. Routine maintenance such as this provides a critical service to local communities, keeping the country moving.
