Wilson and Scott achieve higher standards – again!

Creditability among stake holders ranging from Highways England and major contractors through to smaller organisations is of critical importance to the continuation of Wilson and Scott’s ongoing success as a company.

Positive and ongoing improvements in Occupational Health and Safety within Wilson and Scott have recently been acknowledged through recent certification to the prestigious and globally recognised BS OHSAS 18001:2007 standard.

Through this, the company is able to develop both new and existing collaborative working relationships to mutual benefit and is the most significant tangible evidence of director and employee commitment to enhance company creditability to the highest levels.

Cameron Simms, Operations Director, said ‘Continual improvement of health and safety within the company is a defined director commitment, which we wholeheartedly support across all levels of our operations. This new certification to standards of international best practice in terms of risk management is tangible evidence of the effectiveness of this commitment from all of Wilson and Scott’s directors and staff’.

Valued across the world, the standard provides a detailed framework that ensures Wilson and Scott successfully:-

  • Identify and control health and safety risks
  • Reduce the potential for accidents
  • Aid legal compliance
  • Improve overall performance

Certification to this standard not only recognises that the company has an effective Safety Management System in place but also one that has been successfully incorporated into its integrated overall business management system.

The certification to the standard involved development of additional policies, procedures and processes all of which were written and implemented in-house by the company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Manager, Richard Mills.

Richard says ‘This was a very significant personal challenge which required meticulous planning and implementation over a number of months. We now have in place health and safety systems to a recognised world class standard which ensure ongoing improvements in the health and safety of all our employees and others with whom we work’.
